Giant scorpions

One teenage boy’s perspective on the world he inhabits…

If I could live in any game, I’d want to be in RuneScape*, an online game where I can do anything I want.
I can hunt, fish, cook, make fire. It is the greatest, low-graphic fantasy game there is. The only thing that stops me from playing the game is mum, but she still lets me play.
As an archer in the game, I can hunt and kill in so many different ways, by using bows, arrows and archery styles. I am even working on my magic powers and abilities by using magical stones called runes (from where the game gets its name).
I get money by mining and making metal objects like weapons and armour and then selling them at the market. I haven’t been doing a lot of quests because they seem long and boring. I would rather hunt unicorn and giant scorpions instead.
I have some friends in RuneScape that I have never met in real life because it is like an interactive chat room.
My favourite thing about the game is that I can start doing one thing and when I get bored of that I can go and do something else completely different. I can be a hunter one day and a miner the next, for as long as I like. But the down side is that there is so much to do. I will most likely die before I am the best of the best, but I don’t have to be the best in everything. From what I know, there are no limits on how good I can get; but as long as I keep on playing I can live on in another world.
I might become a member and be able to do lots more different things, like make better armour or arrows and be able to rob or save people (this could be fun, but dangerous).
    What next…? Who knows?
I could be a miner in the desert, a Golan slayer by the river, an archer in one of the cities, or a craftsman selling goods in the market. At the moment I plan to become a better archer and hunt down other strong monsters, like the dragons that live up north, or the rock monsters in the desert down south.
If I do become a member, I could go to the special member worlds or the special member towns where I could learn new skills.

* Runescape (www.runescape.com): is a three-dimensional, massive multiplayer browser based adventure. It runs on Java and is based in the UK.

Hi i am reece . I am a all rounder meaning i use all skills not just one like a pure. i am one of the higher lvl players on the f2p worlds (free to play) and can use f2ps best armour rune. One of the most popular things to do on a free world is pking (player killing) and i get runecrafting and fishing up as one of my main non-combat skill. Most of my skills are in the 30s but my atack strength and defence are all 50 so my combat is 60 in what possibly could one day be lvl 126 the highest lvl you can get. My goal is to be a member and get into the barrows to get the Infamous D-harrok armour and great axe the best armour and weapon in the game. I rekon Runescape is great.

Hey Reece,

Sounds like you’re well and truly into RuneScape, just like John is. Your stats, though, make you sound like you’re pretty unpwnable! Have you run into any pkers that have matched you blow for blow? Out of interest, what sold you on RuneScape and the whole f2p scene? And what do you get out of it most?

Thanks for your comment!

Cheers,
