Ratchet and Clank – Reigniting Old Games Correctly

I have been playing Ratchet and Clank so often whenever I don’t have work or anything to do like in the weekends. Since its release on the PS4 platform, I have been thoroughly impressed with how it looks, how it feels, and how it reminds me of the good old days back on the Playstation 2. This is a game remaster done right.

I want to applaud the epic work done by Insomniac Games for developing and remaking such a classic title. Also, I can not leave out the fact that they collaborated with the movie creators to make a video game based on a movie that does not actually suck. We have seen so many games tread way too close to the movie and focus so much on not ruining it that the gameplay gets diluted. Insomniac Games, though, successfully evades this and makes a game that keeps me coming back for more.

Huge props to Insomniac. Now here's hoping we get a Spyro remake. Please?

I also want to applaud the setup made by Sony Interactive Entertainment. They have been working on a lot of projects as a publishing group (see what they are working on here), but I am so, so grateful they gave life to Ratchet and Clank. Many companies are very hesitant to bring back old games because they are not quite sure if there is enough interest. Thankfully, they listened to the fans and brought back a classic, while also assigning a talented team to the game in Insomniac. Battlefield will be coming out later this year and EA has handled it well too. They listened intently to fans and will definitely have many sales coming provided the developers have made an engaging BF game. Tomb Raider was also a classic game that was revived, and done beautifully. Square made a good project out of it and have since produced both the epic reboot and a very engaging sequel to that game with Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Excellent work coming from the two divisions. I will be playing Ratchet and Clank for a long time thanks to Insomniac’s stellar game mechanics and Sony’s trust that this franchise is still a top seller.
